2 Months In - Little Adventures

Somehow these first 2 months of our son's life have just flown by.  While he is still only in the 12th percentile for length/height at 22.25", and the 16th percentile for weight at 10lbs 10oz, his growth has been steady and he is doing super well.  He smiles and coos all the time, and recognizes mommy and daddy and loves to look in everyone's eyes and study their faces.  In fact, he was full of smiles this morning at the pediatrician's office after he dropped a deuce on the examination table when she went to do his exam.  Even after all his vaccination shots in both legs, he settled down again quickly with his pacifier.  We must have won the baby lotto with this guy!

We did hit a little complication in our lives though when we came home from an appointment and found water leaking out of our water heater closet on our patio.  We had just replaced our water heater over the summer so we knew it couldn't be that, and a quick check confirmed the leak had come from upstairs.  I may have wrote something before, but our elderly Russian neighbor upstairs has still been on a bender, and it seems his water heater had burst and leaked downstairs through our closet.  And unfortunately, ,a large amount of mold started to grow, and our outer living room wall got water damage as well.  To top it all off, he let his home owner's insurance expire, so we had to go through our own insurance to get the cleanup started and have them go after him legally to get any charges incurred taken care of.  Unfortunately for us, we still have to pay $500 deductible out of our own pocket, as well as $900+ for mold cleanup and $500 for mold air testing clearance, since those aren't covered by our condo insurance policy.  We even had to leave our cat with a relative and bring our son to a hotel for the next couple weeks while all the work is being done, but at least our insurance is paying for our room.  It isn't an easy adjustment to get a new routine going for your baby in a different, more limited-than-home environment, but we're trying to look at it as a mini-vacay in some ways and booked a room close to the beach near Stephen's parents live and where most of his work is done.

In the meantime, at least the weather has been a bit better and our little guy has enjoyed his little outings and walks in his stroller a lot.   It is all such an adventure for him, and its fun to watch his reactions to new scenery as he soaks it all up.  Happy baby, happy life!
